One thing that 'What Remains' did change in the TV show compared to the script is the scene where Elaine lays in her flat and flushes her gold fish down the sink. This scene was presented after the lady in the basement flat was revealed (Liz Fletcher) and was shortly seen in her 'home'. I believe this was done to emphasize that Elaine's prolong waiting of Peggy's return home. After that scene we see Vidya walking outside her flat and hearing a women (which is believed to be Elaine) crying and sobbing. This in my opinion flowed better in the show as the scene where Vidya walks out her flat is quite further in the script. However I do believe the reveal of Liz Fletcher in the basement flat has something to do with the change in the TV show compared to the script.
Elaine and Peggy's Flat, Goldfish Scene.
Vidya hearing the crying girl.
Another scene from the TV show that was different to the script was that the show didn't have the scene with between Michael and Vidya's dad, Naresh. In this scene we see that Michael has met up with Naresh and at the start of the conversation it seems positive where Michael and Naresh have a friendly laugh together. However after it turns more negative as Naresh offers a deal to Michael at which he refuses with insult. Now, this was not in the TV show because it focused too much on Vidya and the baby. In the first episode of What Remains we really see an introduction to each character rather than what there involvement with the murder is. Also with the amount of time they had in the TV slot adding this scene between Naresh and Michael would be pointless and a waste of their TV slot time. Also Naresh does not live in the block of flats so has hardly any involvement with the investigation. However the spectator does get a glimpse on Michael and Vidya's money situation.
One scene that was in the script and wasn't in the show, was the scene where Len explains his best and worst days in the police force. Again as explained in previous paragraphs, I think this scene wasn't added in the TV show because it would have used up too much time in the slot they had to put it on TV. Also with amount of explanation that was there, it seem too much when the spectator can already tell what kind of person Len is from previous scenes. Therefore it was removed from the TV show.
Another scene that was removed in the TV show was the scene where Joe gives Michael a flat tyre and comments on Michael's misfortune. I think this scene was removed from the TV show because the producers didn't want to expose the tension between Michael and Joe just yet as it was too early. Possibly further through the show the scene will be shown as times may get more tense.
Good and thoughtful consideration of the differences. Well done. Please make sure you write in standard English ("would have" not "would of").
